I'm done.
I picked up my copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows at 12:10 this morning, read until 6:30, slept until noon, and finished it at 6 this evening. I am happy that it's finished, upset that it's over, and 100% completely satisfied with the outcome. It was perfect.
I must say, also, that I was pretty much right on with my predictions. A few missteps, but I guess I can't be right all of the time. Hrmph.
That's all I'm going to say. I'll wait on my review for a few weeks - I don't want to give away a single thing to any of those snail-like readers out there :)
OMG though, people. FINISH it so we can discuss!

I know! I feel like the whole world needs to finish so that I can talk to them about it. Now when I'm in a crowd I have to make sure everyone I am talking to has finished before I start. So annoying. It was wonderful though.
I feel like I may get flamed for this, but I hated the book. Hated the ending. And now I'm mad at the whole series and JK Rowling.
john - I agree! My roommate and my mom recently finished, so it was fun to finally be able to talk about it! Now I'm just waiting for my dad to speed-read through it.
megan - I definitely don't think that you are alone in your assessment, but why exactly were you so disappointed?
megan, i'm very disappointed as well. i've already spouted off to heather about many of the reasons, but i think it all can be summed up by saying that jkr was overambitious in the latter half of the epic (series), had too many loose ends to tie together in the final book, and ended up closing them very weakly. (not to mention ignoring story lines that would have been very interesting). final opinion: rubbish!
I thought it was amazing! Very well done. I read your link to that review though HP and agreed with some of the "gripes." I would have liked to see more of Snape. I did figure out fairly early on that Snape sent the doe patronus. Was it ever mentioned that that was Lily's? I don't remember that. I can't believe you were disappointed A. I was impressed with how she tied things up. Maybe I wasn't expecting much though. Usually this type f wrapping up fails miserably, so I was impressed with how well JKR did.
I thought it was much too long. Not enough stuff 'happened' during the story. I really wanted Harry to die- to be the ultimate hero. The ending was too happy. But since the ending and story are how they are, I wish JK Rowling would have led her readers to believe that Harry and Ron's kids would have to face something terrible at Hogwarts. A cliffhanger, if you will. Just a few random thoughts.
I'm glad that she didn't give us every answer. It keeps us guessing, doesn't it? It keeps us talking, and that's a mark of a great author.
yeah, keeps us talking about how much she sucks. :P lol, sorry, i'm still bitter.
i suppose it wasn't THAT BAD considering it would be extremely difficult for her to live up to everyone's enormous expectations. but come on, she makes more money than the queen...EARN IT! jkr, you could have done better.
